A week ago today, and a week after her due date, my friend Becca had her second baby at Greer Memorial Hospital. Her name is Maria Joy! I met her less than 48 hours after she was born, and she was just precious.
Becca had some really scary and painful complications during her delivery. Her uterus ruptured, and she had to have an emergency C-section. The nurses called Maria the miracle baby, and it sounds like it really is a miracle that both of them are doing so well!
When I was a baby I had all this information cross-stitched and framed and hung in my room, but since this is the 21st century we put it on pretty blog posts now. Maria Joy Broadus was born on February 21, 2016 at 8:54pm. She was 10 pounds 8 ounces and 21.5 inches long. Becca says that she looks just like her big brother Ezra did as a baby.
I can see it! Ezra spent many months watching the Daniel Tiger episode where he gets a little sister, so he knew just what to expect when Maria arrived. He and Becca’s husband Will blew kisses to her for me.
Because of Becca’s surgery, Ezra can’t sit with her just yet, which he wasn’t thrilled about, but he was happy to be there with her. One of Will and Becca’s main goals is to make both of their kids feel equally loved, and they are doing a great job already.
Maria slept peacefully the whole time I was there! Her hair is so thick and I love the way it wisped around her ear. I know Will and Becca are really enjoying her and I am happy for them.
Becca, I’m so glad you and Maria are doing well. Thanks for inviting me to come see you two in the hospital. Also – get excited about the chicken dinner I am bringing y’all tomorrow! See you then!
